The beginning...

I will keep this site updated as I travel around the world. I sold my house in Bristol UK on October 21, 2002, and am now, I suppose, a nomad.
People keep asking me about my plans - at the moment nothing is definite, but it looks like I'll be in Aix-en-Provence in France over
Christmas andthe New Year, and then heading for Cuba in January.

My Grandfather, William Williamson, left Baltasound on Unst, the most northerly inhabited part of the British Isles for
Glasgow sometime before 1920. Nobody in my family has ever been back to Unst, so that seemed like a good place to start.
My father and I travelled up there together to see what we could find.

Monday 25 November 2002
In the bar with dad on the boat M.V.Hjaltland en routeto the Shetland Islands.
Left Bishop Auckland this morning at 11, for a long drive up the foggy A68
over the Teviot Hills, though Jedburgh, around Edinburgh, over the Forth Road Bridge,
past Perth and Dundee. Arrived in Aberdeen just in time for the 7pm North Link Ferries sailing to Lerwick,
due to arrive there at 7am tomorrow morning.

If you came here and thought "I was expecting more" - do email me and let me know...

Friday 29 November, from Baltasound, Unst.

Andy Williamson
